Losing my mind one day at a time.

It has been an interesting two weeks. First I got really sick with a head cold. Luckily, it only stuck around for a few days. I hardly ever get sick but I swear pregnancy has ruined my immune system. I really think the gym is the place that keeps getting me sick. That place has more germs then a kindergarten class. Along with always getting sick, I'm losing brain cells more and more each day. Sometimes I wonder what happened to my common sense. Here is an example: I have been trying to organize the house since we are getting close to the BIG day. I had this brilliant idea to start moving stuff around in the garage. I never really go into our garage because that's Dana's man cave. I got the itch because our glider was in there along with a lot of my photography props. My plan was to find everything a home that didn't belong in the garage. First of all, why I was trying to move our glider/recliner chair is beyond me but it was really bugging me. I started with my photography props (which also includes a large chair) but Dana's motorcycle was in the way. So I decided to move it out of the way. I had no idea how heavy that thing would be. I mean I've played on motorcycles and even have my motorcycle license! I started to push it forward and the kickstand came up. That was my "oh crap" moment. In slow motion it started to fall on me. My first thought was "Dana is going to kill me!" and my second thought was "This thing is going to snap my ankle!" as I started to fall with the bike. Thank the Lord a gas can caught the bike and and I was able to wiggle my way from underneath it. I was so scared of the damage I did to it. I tried to pick it up like an idiot but it was way too heavy. I immediately called my dear friend Kim to come over and help me. I honestly do not know what I would do without her! She always comes to my rescue when I get into trouble!! :) Next I had to call bossman and tell him the bad news. I felt awful because he had just got a new bike and wanted to sell this one. He really didn't care what happened to the bike he was more concerned about me. When he got home from his trip he took a look and said since the gas can caught the fall, there wasn't any damage. I was so relieved! I was asked to never play around in the garage and I am not allowed to pick up/move heavy objects while pregnant. I think I can follow those rules. :)

Scene of the crime!

In other news, my belly is growing like a weed. I love it. It doubles as a table. I love putting bowls on it or resting my arms on it. Mason started having hiccups. Usually its at night time when I'm laying in bed. He also likes to kick me in my bladder. That's always fun. He is really active in the morning and late at night. He moves a lot when I use my high pitched voice to talk to Winston or him. It's pretty amazing to feel him move around from the sound of my voice. I had to include this ridiculous picture of my friend Wendy and I. It's our belly to belly picture. I have never been a huge fan of bare belly pictures. They're silly and a little weird....lets be honest! The reason I find this picture so funny is because Wendy is around 7 weeks ahead of me. Look how big my belly is compared to hers! Which makes me think her mystery baby is a girl. Whatever the case my be this picture makes me laugh. This is from her baby shower breakfast turned into a girls day. We were enjoying the 80 degree day in March! :)

I'm pretty sure Wendy will not be happy I posted this. :)

Who needs sleep?!

I woke up the other morning and there it was. My little soccer ball baby bump. After Valentine's Day I realized I could no longer sleep 10 hours straight like I am use to. I am that person that needs at least 8 hours of sleep to even function. I started waking up at 2am with back pains, leg numbness, and very uncomfortable. I have had such an easy pregnancy so I was expecting something like this would happen eventually. :) I'm currently still working on a comfortable position to sleep in. Right now the upward position with a body pillow is my favorite. Luckily, Dana is traveling so much right now that I can wake up at 2am or 5 times in the middle of night and not bother him. He is such a light sleeper that every time I get up he gets up worried something is wrong with me. After two weeks of not sleeping, I have finally adjusted to the lack of sleep and functioning just fine off of 5 hours of sleep. I was kind of scary at first. ;)

My current sleeping arrangements while Dana is out of town. Winston owns Dana's side when he is gone. :)

In other news, I had my glucose test done last week. My optometrist is convinced that I have gestational diabetes since my vision has gotten so bad since I've been pregnant. I think I'm fine. I think its so silly how worked up people get when you're pregnant. The looks I get at the gym when I'm running on the treadmill, or the people who get worked up when they see me me ordering lattes at Starbucks, or my favorite is the ladies that feel its necessary to point out I shouldn't be eating a turkey sandwich. (BTW, I did ask for it to be heated up.) I always smile and thank them for their concern but sometimes I really feel like educating them on the fact its beyond healthy to workout while pregnant, you are aloud to have coffee while pregnant and did you know you can get listeria from cantaloupe and many other common foods?!

I think the key to a happy pregnancy is not to treat it like a prison sentence. Yes, there are some things that you have to cut out or do in moderation but its nothing extreme. I remember before I got pregnant people would tell me how you couldn't have all sorts of things but it wasn't true at all. I took a list with me to my doctor about questionable foods/activities when I got pregnant and she laughed at first then broke it down for me. Pregnancy is what you make of it. Maybe I'm one of those crazy people that truly enjoys being pregnant. Yes, when this is all over I will miss my belly and my little buddy kicking me to wake up or keeping me company while daddy is gone. My point is, with anything in life it is what you make of it. You have no control of pregnancy. Therefore, you can't waste time worrying about things you can't control and this is coming from the biggest control freak ever! I hear my favorite line from people all the time "Oh you just wait, its going to get worst!" Trust me, I know. I asked for this. :) I know I'm just around the corner from being miserable every single day because I have a watermelon sized stomach but the reward at the end is worth it! I know what I signed up for and I am excited for being miserable and sleepless nights! Sorry about my rant. I just get really bummed out on negative people. Life is way to short to be so negative all the time and its super annoying. :)

How far along? 24 Weeks

Best moment this week: Cooked sushi for Valentine's Day dinner! :)
Miss Anything? Sleeping on my tummy!
Movement: My little buddy is moving all the time.
Food cravings: Veggies! I throw down a footlong veggie delight here and there. :)
Have you started to show yet: I have a super round belly. I love it! I can balance cups and bowls on it.

Labor Signs: Not yet.

Mason has moves like Jagger!

Here we are at 22 weeks. Time is going by quicker and quicker. It is hard to even keep up with the blog. Our little Mason is quite the active guy. He now recognizes loud noises and reacts to them. The sounds of a motorcycle at Supercross or daddy screaming for Kobe to pass the ball ;) he will either kick or squirm around. Dana got to finally feel one of his kicks the other day. They seem to get more strong now that he is getting bigger. The highlight of my week was Winston feeling Mason kicking. Each morning Winston and I will cuddle on the couch while I catch up with emails and drink coffee. He loves to lay in my lap and snuggle as if he is a 10 lb lap dog. The other morning he had his paws on my tummy and was trying to get me to pet him. While he had his paw on my tummy, Mason kicked his paw. Winston was so confused. Winston kept pawing my stomach and each time Mason would kick right where his paw was. It was like they were giving each other high fives. It made my heart melt.

I think we have finalized the all the nursery furniture. I am so excited on how everything is coming together. I'm now focusing on the little things for his room. I ordered a few wall prints and came across these amazing children's books on Paris and New York. I've seen the New York book at FAO Schwarz last year when we were there. I thought they would be a cute addition to his room decor and they show mommy's two favorite cities and all the amazing sights that each city has to offer in a cute story version. Speaking of New York, we are currently planning our last girls trip for a while to NYC. I am so excited to get one more trip in before Mason is born. It's my babymoon with the girls. ;) We always have so much fun in the city and it will be a great vacation with the family before our little man gets here. I've been keeping up with my running daily so I'll be able to keep up with everyone at 28 weeks pregnant. ;)

How far along? 22 Weeks
Total weight gain: up 10-12 lbs.
Maternity clothes? I'm still clinging on to my normal wardrobe! Luckily,  I'm still wearing my jeans. I'll be sad when I have to give into maternity jeans.
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: Sleep has been great!
Best moment this week: Dana feeling Mason kick.
Miss Anything? Poached eggs, sleeping in, buttoning my jeans, and running long distance.
Movement: He wakes me up every morning and likes to play at night time. When I rub my belly or poke around, he'll kick. It's pretty amazing!
Food cravings: Still craving fruit and spicy things.
Have you started to show yet: My belly is getting more and more round.
Gender: It's a BOY!
Labor Signs: Nope

Stripes are not a pregnant girls best friend. ;)

We are halfway there!

Finally, we made it to the halfway point! I wish time would slow down a little bit. I feel great and the baby is doing great. We had our 20 week scan and he checked out perfect! He wasn't as active this time but I think it's because I didn't have my usual big meal before the ultrasound. :) I actually have been more careful with my food choices since he is eating what I am eating now and I don't want him addicted to fast food like I am. It's been tough but it's a good thing for the both of us!

I officially have all my energy back and we finally started on the nursery. Thank god for my amazing husband! As crazy as all my ideas are, he never complains. I decided I wanted the room gray with one chevron wall. I painted the three walls gray and put a white base on the chevron wall. Then Dana started on the taping job for the chevron print. Who knew how complicated that was going to be. Dana ended up taping the wall off twice due to some measurements being off. I know most people would of given up after the 1st day but not him. It took him 4 nights to do it. He is such a perfectionist, nothing but the best for our little guy! ;) After the taping came the painting. I couldn't believe how great it turned out. We have a couple touch ups to do but it came out pretty amazing! I can't wait to get the furniture in the room along with the shelves and hang all the pictures. It's all coming together and it makes me so happy.

How far along?  20 Weeks
Total weight gain: up 9-10 lbs.
Maternity clothes? I've bought a couple maternity shirts but I don't quite fit into them. I'm still in my jeans thanks to belly bands. ;)

Best moment this week: Getting our 20 week scan and seeing our little guy!
Miss Anything? Wearing belts, sleeping on my stomach, and Blue Moon. ;)
Movement: He moves more consistently now. Mostly at night time or after I eat.
Food cravings: I've been eating a lot more greens and fruit lately but I still want something spicy all the time.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing I can think of.
Have you started to show yet: I'm starting to look more and more pregnant everyday.

Happy 2012!!

Wow, I can't believe it's 2012! Time is starting to fly by. It's exciting but nerve racking at the same time. I've started to organize the house room by room and getting everything ready for our little guy. I have been sick with a sore throat, head cold, and have had no voice. I've tried every home remedy you can think of! It's been a week and I'm ready to get better and get back in the gym!

I'm going to attempt to start painting the nursery this week. I've decided to do a nautical theme after the city of La Rochelle, France. We visited this city which is located on the water in western France. I can't describe how much fun Nina, Tammy and I had in this city! It was one of my most favorite days of our trip. When we found out we were having a boy I wanted to incorporate our trip to France somehow and I thought that a nautical La Rochelle nursery would be perfect. His room will be a constant reminder of the great time we had with amazing friends and then coming home with the best souvenir, our little guy! :)

Here are a few pictures of the town of La Rochelle:

A few inspiration pictures of the direction I am going for his nautical room:

I have to say thank you to my dear friend Kim who help get the ball rolling with the nursery by buying the first piece for the room.  Since I got pregnant, I thought we were having a girl. I wanted a gorgeous chandelier for the nursery. Then we found out we were having a boy. I still wanted a fun light fixture. One day Kim and I were on one of our amazing shopping outings and saw this amazing light fixture. It totally went with the theme and I was in love! Thank you Auntie Kim! We adore it so much!

I'm obsessed with the white and wood look for the dresser and crib. I haven't found many like it so this might be a DIY project for me.

I love the burlap and rope combination look for the windows.

I want his bedding to be yellow stripes and I thought this yellow rug will help pull the look together.

I adore chevron print! His crib wall be done in navy blue chevron stripes and the rest of the walls will be gray.

The wall that the rocker/glider will be La Rochelle photos from our trip, inspirational quotes, and nautical items on display.

My all-time favorite Christopher Robin quote.
I love the look of this rocker. I'm not sure the comfort level of it though. :)
How far along? 18 Weeks
Total weight gain: up 7-8 lbs.
Maternity clothes? I'm still in my normal clothes but some tops are tighter then others. :)
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I've been sick this last week so I've been up coughing all night. Not fun.
Best moment this week: Feeling the baby move around.
Miss Anything? I still miss sushi. During the holidays I missed wine a little bit.
Movement: A lot more movement. Anything loud or large meals get him going.
Food cravings: I'm on a healthy kick right now but I still want everything spicy!!
Anything making you queasy or sick: The sight of hard alcohol or strong scents.
Have you started to show yet: I look like I have a beer belly. I can't wait until its a legit bump. People stare a lot.

It's a BOY!!

We found out at 15 weeks that we are having a boy!! I have to admit, at our 13 week our technician said  that the angle of the dangle looked like boy. What the heck is the angle of the dangle? Our ultrasound technician explain to us basically the position of the dangle made her think it looked more like a boy than a girl but not enough to give me the okay to shop. That wasn't enough proof for us to make any kind of announcement. Dana has already said it was a boy since this child was conceived so this just confirmed he was right but we still weren't 100%. We decided at 15 weeks we would have a 3D ultrasound done so we could tell our family before Christmas. I had this huge plan! I was going to do these cupcakes that said "It's a..." and then fill them with pink or blue frosting and have this amazing gender reveal with my family but then it got too exciting.

Two weeks before Christmas I had scheduled to have the ultrasound and I figured I would reveal the sex at our family picture date that Sunday so I could capture it. I was driving to my nieces Christmas recital when I got a phone call saying they had an appointment open up that afternoon. I figured since I was already in the neighborhood I might as well go. I invited my best friend Erin since she works so close to the place and my sisters. Unfortunately, my sister Ang and my nieces couldn't make it in time but Alexa and Erin got the full experience. I was asked to eat a large meal and have a large coke before the appointment to wake up the baby. I did what any pregnant lady would do, go to McDonald's a get a #2! By the time I got the appointment the baby was awake and hyper. I had turned 15 weeks that day and was nervous the baby would be to small to tell what he or she was. I had told the doctor that the angle of the dangle pointed to a boy but she wasn't convinced by that theory either. As soon as we started the baby was all over the place. We finally got the shot. Sure enough, he was a BOY! The picture was so clear. We had such a great time watching him move around. He even waved to us with his little hand. He loves having his hands near his face.  He is tall and skinny like his daddy! It was so great to see our little guy in action. After our appointment my sister and nieces met us in the parking lot and we showed her all the ultrasound pictures. We planned on waiting until Sunday to tell my mom but as soon as I told Dana it was 100% he said we need to tell her that night. When Dana got home from work we called his parents and then we called my mom. For those who don't know, I come from family of all girls. I have 3 sisters and 2 nieces. My mom has always wanted to add a boy to this bunch. When we called my mom we had to play with her just a little bit. It wouldn't be fun if we didn't. I told her we were having a girl. After her and my other sister Alyse got done screaming over the news, Dana chimed in and said we were kidding and that is a boy. The screaming and excitement was a little bit louder that time. :)

I am a little nervous about having a boy because all I know is girls. After getting the cutest boy outfits from Gma, Papa J and Auntie Ang for Christmas I know dressing a boy will be just as fun as a girl. Also, the nursery is going to be AMAZING after the help from my great friend Kim and Pinterest! :)

This Christmas was one of my favorites by far. We have so much to be thankful for and to look forward to with our little guy! It's scary to think next year at this time we will have a 6 month old! Yikes! I am so thankful for my family and their constant supoort. This baby has made me realize how important they are to Dana and I. Okay, let me go grab tissue. ;)

Hello Second Trimester!!

We finally made it to the second trimester! The first 8 weeks went by so slow but now time is flying by. We bought our first baby item, a stroller! I fell in love with my girlfriends stroller after spending a weekend with her and her little guy. Her Orbit Baby stroller was literally a dream! One morning I was looking on this wonderful site called Gilt that has designer items for discounted prices. It so happens the Orbit Baby G2 Stroller was on there in the color I wanted!! We couldn't pass up on that deal! I can't explain how excited I am on a stroller! Kind of scary.

We had a few doctors appointments these last couple of weeks. We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time and got another ultrasound of our little peanut. It likes its hands and fingers in its face. The baby slept during the ultrasound which was great for taking measurements and getting all the important information they needed. All of our tests came back negative which means we have a healthy baby! The baby measured at a new due date of 6-6-12!

As for my pregnancy, it has been pretty easy. Still no morning sickness. I got motion sickness on the plane ride home from visiting Dana's parents. The heartburn has died down but the headaches are constant. I guess I much rather have headaches than nausea. I have the worst case of baby brain. I forget everything!! I know it's driving Dana crazy and to be honest its really driving me crazy! I officially have to write everything down and I am a complete mess at the grocery store.  I have learned that the baby doesn't like when I over do it. I'm use to having a busy schedule all day, everyday. I had no idea how exhausted I would be all the time. It's very frustrating at times. I've had to scale back a lot but I think it's good for me and the baby. I also got a chest and booty I have always wanted but I hope they both stop growing. Anymore of either can be scary. I guess be careful what you wish for! ;)

How far along? 14 Weeks

Maternity clothes? I got maternity leggings that I love but luckily I work from home so workout clothes and leggings are my daily go to!
