Dana was offered the trip of a lifetime when his work asked him to go to France for a race. We decided on this trip we would start trying for Baby Wiggie. After all Paris is the most romantic city in the world! We spent 9 amazing days in France. It was honestly the trip of a lifetime with our great friends. When we got back from the trip I couldn't kick the jet lag. After the 5th day back I realized my love for coffee had faded. That was the first sign. Coffee is my all-time favorite thing in the world! That day I took a pregnancy test. It was negative. Dana thought I was crazy but I knew something was off. The following Wednesday and a dozen negative pregnancy tests later, there it was. A faint pink line! Yep, I knew I wasn't crazy. I decided since Dana's birthday was in a few days I would keep it a secret and surprise him. It was the hardest secret to keep from him. It was even more hard for my body to adjust to the lack of coffee.
Saturday morning came! I had woken up at 5am due to my new baby bladder that wakes me up a few times during the night. I decided to wait as long as I could to wake Dana up and open his birthday presents. I got to 6:30am and couldn't wait any longer. He was less than thrilled for birthday presents at that hour. He opened them up, one by one. After the 3rd one he gave me the look "This couldn't wait?!" Then he opened the last one, a positive pregnancy test. I had been lying to him all week that my test were negative so he was pretty much in shock to see two pink lines. I think it might have been the best present I have ever given him because he was pretty much in shock for the first few minutes. It was the best moment ever! I will remember that moment for the rest of my life.
So far, I feel great. No morning sickness just very tired. I had one morning where I was deathly ill but I'm still saying it was something I ate. ;) A lot of my favorite things are no longer my favorite. I constantly crave red meat and anything really really spicy. I have been able to keep up with my usual busy schedule without any problems but I do have to be in a bed at a decent hour and daily naps are needed. I treasure any amount of sleep! :)
We named our little French baby, Baby Bordeaux until we find out the sex. We are anxiously waiting to find out if it is a boy or girl. Hopefully it will be our Christmas present. I am dying to start on the nursery!
We did get to see our little nugget at our last appointment. Our baby is very active!! We got to see it kick and suck on its little fingers. It was really exciting to see the heart beating. Here is a little clip:
How far along? 12 Weeks
Total weight gain: up 4-5 lbs.
Maternity clothes? Not yet but I wear leggings most of the time. My jeans are a little snug! :)
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I sleep great minus all the bathroom trips.
Best moment this week: The best moment so far has been seeing the heartbeat and our little one sucking on it's fingers. That was amazing.
Miss Anything? Sushi and poached eggs!!
Movement: Not yet.
Food cravings: TK Burger...all day everyday!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Certain strong scents.
Have you started to show yet: I say yes, Dana says no! At the end of the day my belly comes out in full force.
Gender: I say girl. Dana says boy.
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Fatigue and heartburn...major heartburn!
Doctors Appointment: We have two this next week. On Thursday they will attempt to find out the sex! :)
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: I am happy but very emotional. Bring on the tissue.
Looking forward to: The week of Christmas when we find out the sex. Although there is a slight chance they can tell us next week at our next ultrasound appointment.
